Repainting for Any Starting Point

Most of our Henderson repaint jobs start one of three ways:

  • Refreshing a lived-in home — common in established communities like Green Valley, Whitney Ranch, and MacDonald Ranch, where walls carry decades of scuffs, faded color, and drywall settling cracks that need patching before paint.
  • Covering builder-grade flat paint — common in newer communities like Cadence and Inspirada, where homes came with thin flat white paint that scuffs if you look at it wrong and can't be wiped clean.
  • A full color change — moving on from the dated tans and Tuscan golds of the 2000s to modern neutrals, painted with two full coats so the old color never ghosts through.

In every case, the process is the same: protect everything we aren't painting, prep every surface we are, then apply full, even coats with crisp cut lines where walls meet ceilings and trim. If your project includes baseboards, doors, or crown molding, see our trim, doors & ceilings page for that part of the job.

The Prep Work That's Actually Included

"Prep" is where cheap paint jobs cut corners, because it's the part you can't see in the after photo. Ours is spelled out up front:

  • Drywall patching for nail pops, dings, anchor holes, and settling cracks — with texture matched to your existing walls, not left as smooth shiny spots
  • Caulking gaps where trim meets wall and in corners that Henderson's dry air has opened up
  • Sanding glossy or slick surfaces so the new coat bonds instead of peeling
  • Full masking of floors, countertops, fixtures, outlets, and windows — and drop cloths everywhere we work

Why Two Coats on Color Changes

A one-coat color change looks fine for about a week — then the old color starts reading through in raking afternoon light, which Henderson has plenty of. Every color change we do gets two full coats of quality paint. It costs a little more in labor and material, and it's the difference between a repaint and a touch-up.

How a Repaint Runs

  1. Walkthrough and quote

We scope rooms, ceilings, trim, and current wall condition, then give you one straightforward flat price — no ranges, no surprise add-ons mid-job.

  2. Protection

Drop cloths down, furniture covered or moved, fixtures and hardware masked. Your home is protected before any sanding or painting starts.

  3. Surface prep

Patching, texture matching, caulking, and sanding — the step that determines whether the finish still looks right in five years.

  4. Paint and walkthrough

Ceilings first, then walls, with crisp cut lines throughout. We walk the finished rooms with you before we consider the job done.
